“identity”
digital PHOTOGRAPHY + illustrations; 11/2020
THIS PIECE WAS A PART OF MY semester PROJECT, FOR MY high school PHOTOGRAPHY CLASS (ap 2d art and design, 2020 junior year, INSTRUCTED BY brian guilfoyle).
For this project, we were assigned to choose and develop an overall concept and create 15 concentrations. My concept was “Youth”
Artist statement:
Identity represents the inner collision of femininity and masculinity. I think youth is the time for finding how we truly feel about the self within and who we are. I put the female head on the male body and used pink, a stereotypical “girl” color to represent the male subject and blue, a stereotypical “boy” color for the female subject. In terms of experimentation, this whole piece experimentation for me. I strayed from my typical art style as I wanted to create something different from my usual style. I also struggled with the text message that I wanted to add to the photo. I switched between a couple different messages and ended up choosing “look inside who are you”
